1. W---Ah… it’s such a lovely day. It reminds me of last week, doesn’t it remind you of the same thing?
M--Oh sure I mean that was just so fantastic, that holiday!
--I love that city, you know.
2. M--Peggy, what are you doing going through all those newspapers?
W--I’m trying to find a flat and I’ve got to go through all these advertisements. I just can’t find anything good.

--Yes, please

M--Fine, thanks. Ann. And how are you? I expect your students are keeping you busy at this time of year?
--Ah, well. I can’t really complain. Now, I don’t think you’ve met Peter Patterson, haven’t you? Peter, this is John Middleton. He’s the local lawyer.

W: Hi,Stuart. how's school going?
M: Oh, hi, Lisa. School is really , really tough right now, exams are coming in two
weeks.
--Geez. Stuart, you sound stressed. Exams, yes, I used to dread this time of year. I used to stay up before and hope I was studying the right stuff.
--That's the hard part of studying last minutes; you run out of time, have to pick and choose areas of focus and guess what will be on the exams. It's always a bit of a gamble. To add more stress I have a part-time job on top of studying!
--Can't you take some time off from your job, Stuart?
--No, I need the money to help pay my board. I thought I was doing pretty well all term balancing school and work, but now I'm finding it's next to impossible finding the time to both study and work. After coming home from my job I have to hit the books for a few hours every night, whether I have the energy or not. Sometimes I just want to go to sleep...I'm so tired
--Well, Stuart, you know it's not going to last forever. It's like you just have to find that extra energy to get through it all. Before you know it, you've graduated! Twenty years from now you will look back on this time and remember all the fun you had.
--No doubt, thanks, Lisa. I know you're right. I'll probably even look back on my job with fondness too.

W: Hi, Alan.
M: Hi, Rachel. I did not feel good yesterday, and couldn’t make it to class. Because I am not doing very well in this course, I am wondering what Dr. Millard covered in class yesterday.
-- Well, we had a lecture on sustainable development in forests. Dr. Millard pointed out some of the advantages and disadvantages of it.
-- I noticed the next chapter in our textbook is called “Sustainable Development”. Chapter 6, isn’t it?
-- Yes, we covered the first part of Chapter 6. He told us to read from pages 156 to 170. Also, during the last half of class we divided into groups of three for a project. The groups had to come up with their won topic on some aspect of sustainable development. The group I’m in, with Harry and Susan, didn’t focus too well, and we didn’t even come up with a topic. A couple of groups seemed quite focused. The project is due a week from Friday.
-- Was I put in a group?
-- I don’t think so. There were about 4 or 5 students missing today. Perhaps, if you showed up for class early on Wednesday and spoke with Dr. Millard, he could assign you a group.
-- Did you take lecture notes?
--Yes, I did. I was just going to put them on my computer. Would you like me to email them to you?
-- Oh, yes. Thanks very much.

People are so busy these days that they can hardly take the time to prepare a meal at home. Thus, a nearby restaurant usually becomes their dining-place. However, home-cooked meals are better for many reasons.
First, home-cooked meals are cheaper. A family can buy a wide variety of cheaper fresh food at the supermarket than in a restaurant. Next, you can buy exactly the food you like. Restaurants sometimes serve meals with vegetables that are not wanted. Finally, home is a more relaxing place to eat. Family members can learn more about each other quietly at home than in a busy restaurant.
In a word, eating at home is better than eating out.
