In my first math class, I quickly realized it was going to be far harder than what I was used to. The teacher talked so fast, and the mountain of homework was too much, making it hard for me to breathe. I tried to pay attention, but my mind was racing. I started to doubt myself, wondering if I could really handle high school life. I felt I could hardly follow anything. I felt lost.
After the class, I sat at my desk, feeling like I was in over my head. That's when Mr. Smith, my math teacher, came over. He saw I was upset and asked if I was okay. I told him I was finding everything really hard and wasn't sure I could handle it.
Mr. Smith's eyes softened as he smiled, and he said in a comforting tone, "I understand how you feel. High school is a significant leap from junior high, but it's also an opportunity for you to grow.
