If you’re networking(建立人際關(guān)系)and nothing is happening, you might need to evaluate how you’re doing it.Maybe you show up at each event and still feel challenged by the process. You aggressively talk to people, give out your cards, call endlessly to schedule an appointment but have no real success from your efforts. To help you gain a different future, here are eight habits you should avoid.(避免)

Ineffective networkers:

1.Lack patience. They expect immediate results and want business now, not tomorrow.

2.Constantly“selling”something.They see dollar signs every time they shake hands with someone.

3.Too many choices. If they offer a variety of products, they might try too hard to tell about all of them.Offering too much infomation sends a confusing message making it difficult for people to send references.Opportunities are all around us but when you’ re networking j only focus on one.

4.Change positions too often. If they move from company to company or do something totally different,it might be difficult for people to keep up with them.

   5. Lack manners and respect. They interrupt others, talk with food in their mouth, aren’t very polite and appear unprofessional. They call people during dinner or on the weekends without thinking whether the occasion is suitable.

   6. Focus on themselves. Too much self-promotion can leave the other person to feel unappreciated. Every sentence begins with“I”and is all about their business.

7.“Taking”instead of“giving”.They don’t realize what other people sense when they are being very selfish.Others may think that they are being taken advantage of.

8.Poor communication and interpersonal skills. They have trouble speaking effectively, building relationships and following up.

Networking is a process that is an investment of time and money. If you find you’re doing any of these habits, consider learning how to improve on these and maximize your results while networking. You’ll start to get better at connecting with people and obtain more opportunities.

1.According to the text, some people didn’t succeed in networking because       .

    A.they didn’t make efforts           B.they didn’t behave effectively

C.they didn’t pay enough money      D.they didn’t spend enough time

2.According to the second habit,we shouldn’t       when we are networking.

    A.make friends                    B.talk about dollars

C.shake hands with everyone         D.pay attention to money only

3.When talking with others,you should        .

A.give out your cards every now and then

B.talk about the quality of your product as much as possible

C.1et other people express themselves completely

D.interrupt others when they make a mistake

4.Which of the following is not suitable for a salesman’s behavior?

A.He offers too much self-promotion during the conversation.

Newcastle, one of the fastest developing cities in the United Kingdom, is beginning to draw tourists from all corners of Europe. It’s said most visitors come here to see the famous soccer team play. The mood of the locals is often changed by the success or failures of the local team.

Newcastle’s most popular place is the Gate, which is in the center of the city and has many attractions including bars, restaurants, sports bars, pubs and so on. During a home game it becomes a real home to happiness.

Culture and local history lovers can make their dreams come true by taking one of the local city tour buses. They come and leave every few minutes and stop at all the important historical sites in the city. Also the seats and the environment on the buses are comfortable. Here are six steps to better studying.

Pay attention in class

Do you have trouble paying attention in class? Are you sitting next to a loud person? Tell your teacher or parents about any problem that is preventing you from paying attention.

Take good notes

Write down facts that your teacher mentions or writes on the board. Try to use good handwriting so you can read your notes later. It’s a good idea to keep your notes organized by subject.

Plan ahead for tests and projects

Waiting until Thursday night to study for Friday’s test will make it hard to do your best. One of the best ways to make sure that doesn’t happen is to plan ahead. Write down your test dates. You can then plan how much to do after school each day, and how much time to spend on each topic.

Break it up

When there’s a lot to study, it can help to break things into several parts. Let’s say you have a spelling test on 20 words. Instead of thinking about all of the words at once, try breaking them down into five-word groups and work on one or two different groups each night.

Ask for help

You can’t study effectively if you don’t understand the material. Be sure to ask your teacher for help. If you’re at home when the confusion occurs, your morn or dad might be able to help.

Sleep tight

So the test is tomorrow and you’ve followed your study plan—but suddenly you can’t remember anything! Don’t panic. Your brain needs time to digest all the information you’ve given it. Try to get a good night’s sleep and you’ll be surprised by what comes back to you in the morning.

1.We know from the passage that a loud person is       .

A.a(chǎn) student who always answers questions loudly in class

B.someone who likes to talk with others in a loud voice

C.a(chǎn) student who likes speaking with others in class

D.a(chǎn) person who makes a lot of noise in public places

2.According to the author, which of the following is an effective studying method?

A.Don’t try to review everything you have learned in one go.

B.Try to review what you’ve learned in one go.

C.To read all your notes the night before the test.

D.Try to remember everything on the first try.

3.If you don’t understand what you have learnt, you can       .

A.read your notes over and over again

B.turn to people around you for help

C.put aside the material for later review

D.a(chǎn)sk your teacher to explain it the next day

4.By saying “Sleep tight”, what does the author mean?

A.Sleep again after waking up.

B.Sleep holding your breath deep.

C.Get a good night’s sleep.

D.Go to sleep early every night.

科目:高中英語 來源:2008年普通高等學(xué)校招生全國統(tǒng)一考試江西卷英語試題 題型:閱讀理解

Most people, when they travel to space, would like to stay in orbit for a few days of more. And this stands to reason, if you’re paying $20,000 for your trip to orbit! Strain order for tourism to reach its full potential there’s going to be a need for orbital accommodation---or space hotels. What would a space hotel actually be like to visit? Hotels in orbit will offer the services you expect from a hotel------private rooms, meals, bars. But they’ll also offer two unique experiences: impressive views----of Earth and space---and the endless entertainment of living in zero gravity---including sports and other activities that make use of this.

The hotels themselves will vary greatly----from being quite simple in the early days to huge luxury structure at a later date. It’s actually surprising that as later as 1997, very few designs for space hotels were published. This is mainly because those who might be expected to design them haven’t expected launch costs to come down far enough to make them possible.

Lots of people who’ve been to space have described vividly what it’s like to live in zero gravity. There are obviously all sort of possibilities for dancing, gymnastics, and zero-G sports. Luckily, you don’t need to sleep much living in zero gravity, so you’ll have plenty of time for relaxing by hanging out in a bar with a window looking down at the turning Earth below.

Of course all good things have come to an end. Unfortunately, And so after a few days you’ll find yourself heading back enough you’ll be much more expert at exercising in zero gravity than you were when you arrived. You’ll be thinking how soon you can save up enough to get back up again---or maybe you should change jobs to get to work in an orbiting hotel.

1.When traveling in space, most people would like to stay in orbit for a few days because _______.

A.It is expensive to travel in space

B.they would find the possible life in other star systems

C.they could enjoy the luxury of space hotels

D.they want to realise the full potential of tourism

2.Which of the following is a unique experience that space hotels will offer?

A.The gravitational pull

B.The special views.

C.The relaxation in a bar

D.The space walk.

3.Which of the following is not discussed in the passage?

A.When was the space traveling made possible?

B.What are the unique experiences that space hotels will offer?

C.Why were there not many published designs for space hotels?

D.How can the travelers enjoy themselves in space hotels?

4.This passage is mainly about ________.

A.traveling in space

B.the ways of living in space hotels

C.zero gravity and space hotels

D.the description of space hotels
