As is often the case, when people are attending to meetings, having meals or waiting for buses, you can always find them addicting to their phones, completely ignoring others.

This is really a common phenomena in our life. The reason is why smart phones nowadays can be used for people to play mobile games and kept in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. Therefore, too much exposure to phones are bad for people in terms of health. Moreover, people involved in phones fail to communicate well with these around them.

As far as I am concerned, people should wisely make use of their phones to help their work and study. Meanwhile, care much about their family and friends rather than mobile phones.

As anyone who freelances(做自由職業) knows, there are lots of advantages of working at home alone. But there are drawbacks too, like the potential loneliness. No wonder co-working spaces are becoming so popular: they permit self-employed individuals to feel like they are part of all office environment, while making them get some work done too. But renting a co-working space does cost money.

Now a Swedish project is aiming to change that by turning people’s under-used homes into temporary co-working spaces, available to freelancers for free. Hoffice was started by freelancers Christofer Gradin Franzen and Johline Zandra about a year ago in Stockholm when they invited a few people into their home office to work together. It was a great success, and the project has since spread to a number of cities in Europe, North and South America, Australia, India and Japan. Anyone can sign up and offer their home space as a free co-working space, or go find a Hoffice near them.

On a Hoffice day, everyone arrives and starts work at a certain hour. After 45 minutes, everyone gets up to take a break, stretch, do qigong or yoga for 10 to 15 minutes. Afterwards, people can gather around again, and re-state their intentions and goals for the rest of the work day, as a way to motivate each other. Meals can be eaten together at a certain hour, potluck-style(家常飯)or by bringing your own lunch.

This process creates an encouraging and supportive work environment. As some freelancers describe, “By working at Hoffice, we give ourselves and each other the gift to spend our days in a social working environment, where we are extremely productive without ignoring our other human needs. We also make sure to give us and each other what we need to feel calm, happy, inspired and creative during the working day.”

So Hoffice is not just about sharing space; it's also about a free exchange of ideas. And perhaps the best thing is that Hoffices are free to use.

A. work longer than before

B. can’t be separated from each other

C. benefit a lot from the working style

D. expect more people to join them

4.What do we know about Hoffice according to the text?

Soon enough, we will lose some of the most amazing sites on Earth!

The Great Barrier Reef---Rising air temperatures will cause sea temperatures to rise as well. All life supported by the oceans will be affected with this shock to their ecosystem. Coral are some of the most vulnerable marine animals and we are already watching whole reefs disappear. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is no exception and will continue to shrink as the temperatures rise! These reefs are some of the best in the world for diving, but they will soon disappear!

Venice---Sprawing across(橫跨)hundreds of small islands in Northeast Italy, Venice is at extreme risk of sinking into the Adriatic Sea. Rising sea levels are in fact a serious threat to many coastal cities located at sea level. Lucky for us, however, Venice is developing a series of sea walls to protect the city in times of high tide.

Glacier(冰川)National Park---Glacier National Park was once covered by over 150 glaciers, but by 2005 it only had about 27! Located in Montana, Canada, this park is over a million acres and has a huge plant and wildlife population. As temperatures rise, the glaciers and ice melt, which will upset the ecosystems sustaining over a thousand plant species and hundreds of animals.

The Amazon---The cause behind the disappearance of these fantastic places ultimately comes down to humans. Our expansion usually requires cutting down forests for land, fuel and materials, but rarely considers the consequences. These forests are sources of food and medicine for just about everyone on the planet!

What will happen if we lose these valuable places and beautiful destinations?!

1.According to the text, what is causing coral’s death?

A. Rising sea levels

B. Humans’ diving activities

C. Rising sea temperatures

D. The shrinkage(縮小)of their habitats

2.What can we infer from the part of “Venice”?

A. Venice is the only coastal city of Italy

B. Many places are in the risk of sinking below the sea level

C. Venice will never sink because of the protection of sea walls

D. Italy consists of hundreds of small islands in the Adriatic Sea

3.What can we learn about Glacier National Park from the text?

A. It covers a large area in Montana

B. It is covered by over 150 glaciers

C. Plant species and animals in it have died out

D. It doesn’t support any living thing for its cold

4.Which site’s shrinking reason differs from the other sites?

A. The Great Barrier Reef B. Venice

C. Glacier National Park D. The Amazon

I have always been interested in making things. When I was a child, I enjoyed drawing, but I also liked making things out of clay(粘土). I won a prize for one of my paintings when I was fourteen. That may be why I went to art school four years later. But I studied painting at first, not pottery(制陶). I like being a potter because I like to work with my hands and feel the clay. I'm happy working by myself and being near my home. I don't like mass-produced(集體生產)things, because they are made by machines. I think crafts(手工藝) are very important and crafts-people make things cleverly with hands. They make our lives colorful. When I left school, I got some money. I hope to become a full-time crafts-woman. This work-place is small, but I wish to move to a larger one next year.

In an effort to prevent language loss,scholars from a number of organizations----UNESCO and National Geographic among them----have for many years been documenting dying languages and the cultures they reflect.
Mark Turin,a scientist at the Macmillan Center,Yale University, who specializes in the languages and oral traditions of the Himalayas,is following in that tradition.His recently published book,A grammar of Thangmi with an Ethnolinguistic Introduction to the Speakers and Their Culture,grows out of his experience living,working,and raising a family in a village in Nepal.
Documenting the Thangmi language and culture is just a starting point for Turin,who seeks to include other languages and oral traditions across the Himalayan reaches of India,Nepal,Bhutan,and China.But he is not content to simply record these voices before they disappear without record.
At the University of Cambridge Turin discovered a wealth of important materials----including photographs,films,tape recordings,and field notes----which had remained unstudied and were badly in need of care and protection.
Now,through the two organizations that he has founded----the Digital Himalaya Project and the World Oral Literature Project----Turin has started a campaign to make such documents,found in libraries and stores around the world,available not just to scholars but to the younger generations of communities from whom the materials were originally collected.Thanks to digital technology and the widely available Internet,Turin notes,the endangered languages can be saved and reconnected with speech communities.

32.Many scholars are making efforts toB.
A.promote global language
B.rescue disappearing languages
C.search for language communities
D.set up language research organizations
33.What does"that tradition"in Paragraph 3refer to?A
A.Having full records of the languages.
B.Writing books on language teaching.
C.Telling stories about language users.
D.Living with the native speakers.
34.What is Turin's book based on?D
A.The cultural studies in India.
B.The documents available at Yale.
C.His language research in Bhutan.
D.His personal experience in Nepal.
35.Which of the following best describes Turin's work?D
A.Write,sell and donate.
B.Record,repair and reward.
C.Design,experiment and report.
D.Collect,protect and reconnect.
