A. Time can run out.

B. Tomorrow won't be better.

C. Ideas need lime to develop.

D. Your professor will be impatient.

E. You blow off your chances for help.

F. You're probably overestimating (高估) the pain.

Never Put off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today

Want to put off studying for the physics test? Or writing that thirty-five-page research paper on future uses of biotechnology? Sure you do? And who wouldn’t? But it’s still a silly idea to put off doing something until a future time. Here's why ...

61._________. The task will be still the same. It won’t be any more fun and you still won’t want to do it. As the deadline gets closer and closer, the task seems to become larger and larger if you haven’t started the work. And the stress increases. Now not only do you have to write that paper, you have to do it under great pressure.

62._________. Before you start, it seems that the task is unlikely to be accomplished. But you know what? You’re probably miscalculating. Get started — maybe on a small piece — and you'll discover that you have more resources and know more about the subject than you thought. Result? You won’t experience nearly as much suffering as you expected to. Things are guaranteed —  100 percent —  to get better.

63._______. If you leave your work until the night before it’s due, you give up the possibility of getting input from your professor. Professors regularly give advice — or at least a few useful tips — during office hours. Unfortunately v though, they don’t usually hold office hours at midnight, so you'll be out of luck when you discover the night before the midterm that you have no idea how to do the questions that will count for two-thirds of your grade.

64.________. Ever wonder why the professor assigns the paper two weeks before it’s due? It’s because he or she expects you to be thinking about the issue, or doing the research, for two weeks. No, not every waking moment, but at least some of the time. After all, the professor could just as easily have given the assignment one week before it was due if he or she expected less thinking. Most college papers require you to have some kind of idea, then to spend some time thinking about it, revising it, and polishing it. When you throw together a paper or a report at the last minute, your ideas are half-baked. And your professor will know it.

65._________. If you put things off till the last minute 9 you might find that you haven’t budgeted enough minutes to finish the necessary tasks. It’s the easiest thing in the world to miscalculate how long it’ll take to do all the work especially when new issues arise — like illness, family problems, computer breakdowns, trouble at work, and all the other things — as you’re thinking through your paper argument or preparing yourself for the coming test. If you keep delaying, you don't allow yourself time for those various Life events that have an adverse (不利的)effect on your ability to complete your assignment.

The task will be still the same. It won’t be any more fun and you still won’t want to do it.

62. F。根據(jù)前兩句:…it seems that the task is unlikely to be accomplished. But…miscalculating…maybe it’s a small place…h(huán)ave more…more…than you though可以判斷,該段講的是:沒(méi)有開始的時(shí)候,會(huì)覺(jué)得工作不可能完成。

If you leave your work…, you give up the possibility of…give advice,以及Unfortunately, though…so you’ll be out of luck…(這兩句都是對(duì)于主題句的進(jìn)一步解釋),可以得知本句主題為:把事情放到最后一刻去做,將會(huì)放棄得到幫助的機(jī)會(huì)。

Five Simple Ways to Increase Your Intelligence
Your brain needs exercise just like a muscle. If you use it often and in the right ways, you will become a more skilled thinker and increase your ability to focus.
Here are 5 simple ways anyone can squeeze a bit more productivity out of the old gray matter.
1. __________-This is a hard sell. People love vegetating in front of the television, myself included more often than I’d like. The problem is watching television doesn’t use your mental capacity OR allow it to recharge. It’s like having the energy sapped out of a muscle without the health benefits of exercise.
When you feel like relaxing, try reading a book instead. If you’re too tired, listen to some music. When you’re with your friends or family, leave the tube off and have a conversation. All of these things use your mind more than television and allow you to relax.
Exercise- I used to think that I'd learn more by not exercising and using the time to read a book instead. But I realized that time spent exercising always leads to greater learning because it improves productivity during the time afterwards. Using your body clears your head and creates a wave of energy. Afterwards, you feel invigorated(精力充沛)and can concentrate more easily.
2. __________-Many people like to read popular suspense fiction, but generally these books aren't mentally stimulating. If you want to improve your thinking and writing ability you should read books that make you focus. Reading a classic novel can change your view of the world and will make you think in more precise, elegant English. Don’t be afraid to look up a word if you don’t know it, and don’t be afraid of dense passages. Take your time, re-read when necessary, and you’ll soon grow accustomed to the author’s style.
3. __________-Nothing makes it harder to concentrate than sleep deprivation. You'll be most rejuvenated if you go to bed early and don’t sleep more than 8 hours. If you stay up late and compensate by sleeping late, you’ll wake up lethargic(無(wú)精打采)and have trouble focusing. In my experience the early morning hours are the most tranquil and productive. Waking up early gives you more productive hours and maximizes your mental acuity(敏銳)all day.
If you have the opportunity, take 10-20 minute naps when you are hit with a wave of drowsiness. Anything longer will make you lethargic, but a short nap will refresh you.
4. __________-Often our lives get so hectic that we become overwhelmed without even realizing it. It becomes difficult to concentrate because nagging thoughts keep interrupting. Spending some time alone in reflection gives you a chance to organize your thoughts and prioritize your responsibilities. Afterwards, you’ll have a better understanding of what's important and what isn’t. The unimportant stuff won’t bother you anymore and your mind will feel less encumbered.
Conclusion-I hope you aren’t disappointed that none of the techniques I've proposed are revolutionary. But simple, unexciting answers are often the most valid. The challenge is having the will to adhere to them. If you succeed in following these 5 tips, you’ll be rewarded with increased mental acuity and retention of knowledge.

A.Make a well-balanced daily plan

B.Predict how long tasks will take

C.Keep records of where your time is going

D.Handle things in order of importance

E.Learn to reject others’ demands

F.Analyze the distribution of your time

How to Manage Your Time Effectively

It has been said that “Time is Money” – but I disagree. Isn’t Time really LIFE? At the end of your life, can you even imagine saying to yourself, “I wish I’d made more money.” It’s more likely you’d be thinking “I wish I’d had more TIME – time to enjoy my life more.” Here are my favorite strategies for managing that most precious of all resources – TIME.

1.____________

You can’t find something you’ve lost when you don’t know where you might have lost it in the first place. So keep track of the exact time you begin and end an activity, and write down a few words to describe the activity. This requires you to be really honest with yourself and track your time – so if you spent 23 minutes chatting with coworkers over coffee – write it down EXACTLY!

2.____________

Review your time logs(記錄)and start to classify the tasks into categories(范疇). You will create these categories yourself. Some examples might be: Administration, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Computer, etc. You will then sum up how much time you spent doing tasks or activities for each category, in the exact number of minutes. You might also do a little math, to figure the percentage of time each category takes out of each day.

3.____________

If you were honest and diligent, chances are that you had suddenly awakened after you reviewed your daily time logs. You no doubt can see where the time is wasted – and now you’re ready to make a better schedule. Make the best of your time by considering when you’re at your best for certain tasks, by grouping similar tasks together for greater efficiency, and by setting aside certain time for doing uninterrupted work. Think where different tasks can best fit into your day. Then actually write this routine down and post it where you see it every day.

4.____________

You can create your own easy tools to do this. On one sheet of paper, create 5 sections: High Priorities(優(yōu)先), Secondary Priorities, People to Contact, Telephone calls, and Schedule. You can fill this out each day, first thing in the morning. Each day, ask yourself: “If nothing else gets done today, what are the one or two items that absolutely. MUST be done?” You should also regularly go back to the time logging exercise, so you can determine if you are slipping back into those old had habits and take immediate steps to get back on track.

5.____________

More often than not, we take on more than we should because we don’t want to hurt someone else’s feelings. When we burden ourselves too much, we are not only creating unnecessary stress in our lives, but we are also creating potential situations where we cannot deliver what we’ve promised. We also don’t realize that when we can’t deliver what we’re promised, we can unintentionally cause more pain than if we’d had turned that down in the first place, remember, you’re not doing any favors for yourself or anyone else by taking on more than you can reasonably deliver.

請(qǐng)從以下選項(xiàng)(A、B、C、D、E和F)中選出最恰當(dāng)?shù)膬?nèi)容 。

A. Keep your expectations realistic

B. Call a friend right before the date

C. Show up on time

D. Dress comfortably

E. Make eye contact

F. Telling the truth

Many of us get nervous just at the mention of a first date, but it really doesn't have to be such a big deal if you' re prepared. That's where this article comes in. After interviewing hundreds of singles all over the U.S about their first date experienced, we've put together a list of first date dos and don' ts to help out.

1. ___________

Staring at your hands, at the table, or at the guy in the blue shirt sitting at the next table doesn't exactly say "I dig you". You might do that out of shyness on your part, but keep in mind that the person sitting in front of you might not understand that and take it personally. Of course don't stare too hard, it might look a little freaky, but make sure your eyes meet often enough to keep both of you going.

2. ____________

It' s never cool when someone keeps you waiting, so don't keep them waiting either. And NO-a fashionably late entrance will NOT make you look better. You'll just look rude and inconsiderate. If you' re feeling anxious before a date, keep in mind that your date might be feeling anxious as well, so don' t prolong their suffering any more than necessary.

3. _____________

As exciting as dating someone new can seem, you' re better off not expecting to meet Prince Charming right off the hat. If you keep your expectations realistic, good date will be a pleasant surprise and lousy date won' t matter as much.

4. _____________

By comfort, I don't mean sweatpants and laundry-day underwear. But it is a first date, so you don' t want to be overdressed either. What if your date shows up in jeans and a sweater and you' re all about sequins, silk and spike heels? Instead, you should definitely go for a nice and attractive yet comfy outfit, with comfortable shoes. If you hit it off and go walking around, you want to avoid being cold or getting blistered feet. You can easily go for a casual but sexy look and pass the first date treat with flying colors.

5. _____________

If you didn't feel any sparks flying between the two of you, tell your date gently but honestly. Nobody's feelings should have to get hurt. On the other hand, if you did feel that you clicked, forget about the supposed "dating rules" that say you should wait a few days before calling him or her again. Listen to your heart and go ahead and call if you want to. If the feeling is mutual, your date will be happy, and maybe even relieved, that you picked up the phone first.

A. Slow Down Your Life

B. Escape Now and Then

C. Separate Your Actions

D. Allow Yourself to Be Weak

E. Relieve Pressure by Firmly Saying “No”

F. Stop Expecting Everything to Be Perfect

How to Simplify Your Life

Less is more. This is why we say: reduce things by half instead of doubling them, get rid of junk instead of piling it up, relax instead of stressing, slow down instead of speeding up. Apply these principles in your everyday life in a conscious way. You will then find yourself well along on your journey to simplification.

61.__________

When you concentrate on one task, you find you have energy that you didn't even know you had. Just imagine: you are at a fair and you have to carry two heavy pigs over 100 yards. If you keep grabbing one and then the other, it will take forever, because one of them will keep slipping out from under your arm and running off. But if you tie one pig in a place, pick up the other, gather all your strength and make a dash for the finish line, pause for a moment, run back and get the other one, and with great determination, carry the second pig to the finish line, then you can be sure of success.

62._________

The pressure at work is on the increase in all occupations. In the modern nuclear family, the expectations that formerly would have been shared among all the relatives are now concentrated on the individual partner.

If you have the feeling that 24 hours per day are not enough for all the things you need to do, then it's not because the day has too few hours, but because you have too many activities. A simple fact that overloaded people often tend to be forgot. The solution is equally simple: refuse to accept so many work assignments in your private life or your working life.

63.________

“I can handle stress” is regarded as a positive statement in the world of work. People who can handle stress are given more and more to cope with -- until one day they break.

Pay careful attention to the signs that tell you that you are under more stress than you can cope with. These signals can come from various areas of life. You become ill, or your work efficiency decreases.

If you have any of these symptoms, change your life goals and decrease your tolerance of stress. Say quite openly, “I can't manage that.”

64.__________

“If only I were slimmer, more beautiful, richer, cleverer, then I would be happier.” This is a dream that makes a lot of people ill, depressed, and unhappy. Life has its flaws, defects, corners, and edges. Only those who accept this reality can lead a really full life.

Of course there are activities in which errors are dangerous: driving a car; crossing the road. But life doesn’t consist entirely of these things. In/Among them there is a lot of room for small and large mistakes.

65._________

Successful people all have their own places where they can withdraw in order to work. Find out which places improve your creativity. For me it’s the train. When I know that I’m going to be traveling for four hours without phone calls and people knocking on my door, I find my mind is free and I can read or write complex articles. There can be problems working on the train, of course: if the person sitting opposite you keeps talking away, or if train trips make you tired (some people fall asleep after a few miles).
